# Installation

Require the package, then publish and run the migration. The service provider is auto-discovered — no manual registration:

```bash
composer require roundly-consulting/connections-for-laravel

php artisan vendor:publish --tag="connections-migrations"
php artisan migrate
```

The migration is publish-only: the package never loads it automatically. Publishing copies a timestamped migration into database/migrations, so your app owns it and php artisan migrate runs exactly what you published. If your connectable models use UUID or ULID keys, set key\_type before you migrate — see Database schema.

The config file is optional — every key has a default. Publish it only to override:

```bash
php artisan vendor:publish --tag="connections-config"
```

The two publish tags are connections-migrations and connections-config. The provider also registers three Artisan commands — connections:prune, connections:notify-expiring and make:connectable — and contributes a section to php artisan about:

```bash
php artisan about --only=connections
```

The about section shows the model, table, default status, whether access checks are enforced, the default expiry, how many permissions a new connection starts with (a count, never the names), and whether the Gate hook, cache and events are on. A malformed default status, expiry or permission list shows as INVALID.
